The Hunt for a Hero Begins:
Nominations Needed for Awards Ceremony

Edmonton, AB- Three young men run into a burning building to save 7 dogs from death, Earthquake victims are saved by search and rescue dogs, and a family is saved by their pets after freezing pipes cause a roof collapse.

These are just some of the qualities that the Pet Therapy Society is looking to honour this year at the 12th annual Heroes Dinner. This week marks the official launch of the hunt for a hero- and the Pet Therapy Society needs the publics’ help to find those honourees.

"We want to recognize individuals and animals that have done something extraordinary- special acts of devotion or caring that should be honoured," says Tracy Thorne, Chair for the Heroes Dinner for the Pet Therapy Society. "We know that amazing acts of heroism are performed everyday by humans and animals- and we want to acknowledge that fact."

Each nominee will be honoured with a Certificate of Recognition and the selected Heroes will be honoured at the Annual Heroes Dinner & Silent Auction on October 18, 2008.

If you would like to nominate a Hero, please contact Tracy Thorne at 780-970-8825 or rtsailors@shaw.ca
