The art sale will provide collectors with a rare opportunity
to own pieces that have never been offered to the public before, says Epp: “These
are not paintings I would normally even be putting up for sale. They’re pieces
I just love. But we’re facing such a large move with all our animals that we
had to make some tough decisions.”
Beate originally hails from Germany ,
but has called Canada
her home for 12 years. Leaving the country has not been an easy decision for
the artist, who has found inspiration in so many aspects of her life here. It’s
part of the reason she is selling a number of her works:
“As hard as it is for me to part with many of these pieces,
I would really like them to stay here, in the country. So many of the pieces
were influenced by Canadian life and the natural beauty of this land, it seems
only fitting that they be appreciated by the people living in the places that
helped inspire them.”
Epp’s work was profiled in New York’s Gallery & Studio magazine and likened to the work of Georgia
O’Keefe, Marsden Hartley and Rockwell Kent. Several of the pieces up for sale
are inspired by her popular children’s book The
Magical Horses, the sequel to which is due out this fall.
