Factory Tile Depot Wins Best Small Business of the Year Award

Oakville, ON- On March 7, 2012 Factory Tile Depot (FTD) won the “Best Small Business of the Year”) award from the Oakville Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of West Oakville. There were 160 Nominations which were narrowed down to 6 winners in various categories; Dan Welland and his team took home one of the awards.

Created in 2003 by young entrepreneur Dan Welland, Factory Tile Depot currently has retail locations in both Oakville and Mississauga, focusing exclusively in the retail/commercial sale of tile and natural stone.  To this end, Dan regularly travels to Italy, Turkey, Spain, and other countries to select exclusive materials to import and introduce into his markets.

  

Factory Tile Depot services both the end-consumer and trade professionals (interior designers, architects, contractors) and has built a reputation for its outstanding customer service, an in-house design services.  Dan is also very involved in the Oakville community where he sponsors sports events, school teams, and various local charities.

Since November 2010 Dan has been working with ActionCOACH Business Coach Juan Folch to improve and enhance operations at Factory Tile Depot.  This support has resulted in streamlining and systemization of operating procedures, improvements in financial reporting and motivation of sales and administration teams – all through ensuring that the right people are in the right positions were they can contribute the most.  Other projects are currently underway, such as a major overhaul of their website and their POS (point of sale) system in order to continue to improve customer service.  For Canada they have also developed a new and unique online purchase capability for trades (www.TileDirect.ca ).  They will also soon be branching out to a new location in Milton.
