Single or Coupled, Romance Novels Make the Perfect Valentine’s Gift

Edmonton, AB- As the big V-day fast approaches, society seems to polarize into two groups: couples and singles. But author C. Elizabeth believes strongly that romance novels have appeal for both groups as the big day approaches simplicity and passion.

For those of us who haven’t been hit by cupid’s arrow this year, the romance novel is the perfect way to treat yourself to an evening of quiet bliss.

“It may sound cliché, but clichés usually have a basis in truth – because really, what woman doesn’t love an evening in a warm bubble bath, a glass of wine and good chocolate? Throw in a great romance and you’ve got the perfect evening of pampering.” And the author of Absolute Obsession is quick to caution those who think the appeal of her book is strictly feminine, “I don’t write my books to appeal only to a female audience; I think Absolute Obsession is perfect for couples! In fact, it makes a great couple’s gift.”

The simplicity of giving the gift of a romance novel also helps couples avoid some of the traps of Valentine’s Day hype. Says Elizabeth, “The biggest mistake people make is building up Valentine’s Day in their heads into some elaborate affair, from which the only real likelihood is disappointment. Why not make it about actual romance, don’t make it a competitive activity to ‘top’ what other couples do. For couples, sharing a romance novel is also a great way to challenge society’s idea that romance needs to be about spending lots of money. I can’t think of anything sexier than a couple spending an evening cosied up together. I love being read to!”
